Memorial PieceMy Journey into the IT World
Started my IT journey at age 10. Inspired by computer centers while attending tuition classes, I began exploring MS Paint, typing, Encarta, and classic games like Virtua Cop and Road Rash.
Completed the "KIDS" computer course. Retook the course out of pure curiosity to learn more, turning technology into a deep passion.
Completed Certificate in Computer Studies. Received my first PC — a Pentium III (800 MHz processor, 32 MB graphics, 128 MB RAM, CRT monitor) giving me full freedom to learn independently.
Completed Diploma in Computer Studies and discovered programming via Visual Basic 6.0. At just 14 years old, I wanted to enroll in the advanced Software Development course but lacked O/L requirements.
Met with Mr. Pradeep Asiri, Director of NEC Computer Center, who granted special admission. Driven by passion, I became an unofficial software developer at 14.
Mastered VB6 and Photoshop 6 offline. Borrowed the 1,000-page "Visual Basic Black Book" continuously from my school library. Using a 20 kbps dial-up connection, I began releasing free software, building Firefox themes, and managing community blogs guided by my teacher Mr. Nishantha Galagoda.
